Sister Mary (Angeline) MacIntyre (Anne Daniel)

MacIntyre, Sister Mary Angeline (Anne Daniel), 93, died in Parkstone Enhanced Care, Halifax, NS on September 9, 2016.  Born in Boularderie West, NS, on August 1, 1923, she was a daughter of John D. and Anastasia (Jessome) MacIntyre.  Sister Mary entered the Sisters of Charity – Halifax on February 2, 1949 and made her perpetual profession on August 15, 1957.  Sister spent most of her life doing internal ministries such as housekeeping, portress, and cafeteria duties.  Sister’s ministries took her to Mount Saint Vincent Academy in Halifax; Seton Hall, Patchogue, NY; Halifax Infirmary, Halifax; St. Paul Convent, Dartmouth, NS and St. Andrew Convent, Eastern Passage, NS.  In several of these places she was also engaged in Catechetics, visiting shut-ins, palliative care visitor and nursing aide in Ocean View Manor.  Sister retired from active duty in 1996 and took up residence in Mount Saint Vincent Motherhouse in Halifax until she moved to Parkstone Enhanced Care in 2002.  She was among the first group of sisters to move to this facility and is the last member of the original group.  Sister Mary is survived by a number of cousins.  She was predeceased by her sister Annie Ethier, and her foster-sister Margaret Wilkie; by her brothers Angus, Francis, Daniel and John.  The body will lie in Caritas Residence on Wednesday, September 14 with visitation from 3 pm until the Prayer Service at 7 pm.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 15, at 10 am in the Immaculate Conception Chapel in Caritas Residence.  Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville, NS.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Sisters of Charity Ministry Fund.
